First Day of Lent

Giving up sweets for Lent---thus the blogspot name...I was trying to think of something that rhymes with Sweets for the blog title, but couldn't. It's 3:36p.m. on the first day of no chocolate, no cookies, no candy, Whaaaa! and I'm craving an afternoon sweet treat.

Diversion: My sister and I were visiting cousins in Ireland and I wanted to buy some candy at the supermarket. I approached an eldery saleswoman and I made sure not to use the word "candy"---American English. So instead I asked, "excuse me, would you please tell me where I can find the sweets?" She scrunched up her face and replied "Do you mean the confectionery?"

And on that note I think I'll have a spot of tea.
